Son tasarımımızın 2012 yılına ait olduğunu düşünürsek, birçoğunuz WPBeginner’ı yenilemenin zamanının geldiğini söyleyecektir. Yeniden tasarım sürecimizden bazı bilgileri, neler öğrendiğimizi, neden bu kadar uzun sürdüğünü ve en önemlisi yeni tasarımda nelerin yeni olduğunu sizlerle paylaşmak istedim.
Küçük Bir Arka Plan
WPBeginner’ı 2009 yılında başlattım. İlk 3 yıl içinde WPBeginner 4 kez yeniden tasarlandı. Bu, temel misyonumuza daha iyi harcanabilecek çok fazla kaynak gerektiriyor:
Araçlarımız, ekibimiz ve eğitimlerimizle küçük işletmelerin büyümesine ve büyüklerle rekabet etmesine yardımcı olun.
WPBv4’ten sonra temel misyonumuza odaklanmayı bir amaç haline getirdim ve sonuçlar şaşırtıcı.
Son dört yılda:
- WPBeginner blogunda binin üzerinde ücretsiz WordPress eğitimi oluşturduk.
- YouTube Kanalımıza 500’den fazla yeni video eğitimi ekledik.
- WordPress Sözlüğümüze 100’den fazla terim ekledik.
- Terk eden web sitesi ziyaretçilerini abonelere dönüştüren bir araç olan OptinMonster ‘ı başlattık. Optin formlarımız ayda birkaç milyar kez görüntüleniyor.
- Kullanıcılarımızın web sitelerini yavaşlatmadan kolayca fotoğraf ve video galerileri oluşturmalarına yardımcı olmak için en güçlü WordPress galeri çözümü olan Envira Gallery‘yi piyasaya sürdük.
- Performansı ve kullanıcı deneyimini 1 numaralı önceliği haline getiren, kullanımı kolay duyarlı WordPress kaydırıcı eklentisi Soliloquy ‘yi kullanıma sunduk.
- Geri bildirimleriniz ve önerileriniz doğrultusunda en acemi dostu WordPress form eklentisi olan WPForms‘u kullanıma sunduk.
- Bu yılın başlarında Yoast Analytics’i satın aldık ve MonsterInsights olarak yeniden markalaştırdık. Google Analytics’i yeni başlayanlar için kolay hale getirmek için tüm eklentiyi yeniden yazma sürecindeyiz.
Eklentilerimiz toplu olarak 13 milyondan fazla kez indirildi ve 2 milyondan fazla web sitesinde aktif olarak kullanılıyor.
Tüm bunlar büyük başarılar olsa da, misyonumuzu geliştirmeye ve hizmet etmeye devam etmek istiyorsak ele almamız gereken yeni bir dizi zorluk var.
Bu da beni WPBeginner v5’e getiriyor.
Verilerle Tasarım
Son birkaç yılda, mobil cihazların kullanımı çoğu web sitesi için oldukça önemli ölçüde arttı. Bu nedenle blog açarken herkese her zaman mobil uyumlu bir WordPress teması seçmelerini öneriyoruz.
Bu biraz ironikti çünkü kendi web sitemiz duyarlı değildi. Sosyal medyada topluluktaki diğer WordPress tasarımcıları ve geliştiricilerinden çok fazla eleştiri aldık.
Zaman zaman okuyuculardan WPBeginner’ın neden yanıt vermediğini soran yorumlar alıyorduk.
Duyarlı tasarımın önemini anlıyor olsam da, işinizdeki görevlere öncelik vermek söz konusu olduğunda veriye dayalı kararlar almanız daha da önemli.
WPBv4 tasarımını başlattığımız 2012 yılında, kitlemizin %2’sinden daha azı mobildeydi.
Bugün 2016 yılında bu sayı yaklaşık %7’ye yükselmiştir.
Bu oran, kullanıcıların %50’sinden fazlasının mobil cihazlarda olduğu List25 gibi diğer web sitelerime kıyasla hala çok düşük.
Ancak bu mantıklı çünkü çoğu kişi WordPress web sitelerine mobil cihaz üzerinden eklenti yüklemiyor. Çoğu kişi mobil cihazlarda kod değişikliği yapmaz. Çoğu kişi yaygın WordPress hatalarını mobil cihazlarda düzeltmeye çalışmaz.
Bu yüzden WPBeginner’ı duyarlı hale getirmek birinci önceliğimiz değildi. Ancak mobil kullanım %5’i geçtiğinde, diğer zorlukları da ele alan yeniden tasarım için planlama yapmaya başladık.
Karşılaştığımız bir diğer zorluk da sitenin kullanılabilirliğiydi. Daha fazla içerik ekledikçe, kullanıcıların aradıklarını bulmaları zorlaştı. Örneğin, WordPress’i hızlandırmaktan bahseden 8 makalemiz vardı, ancak adım adım kapsamlı bir çözüm yoktu.
WPBeginner arama formunda en çok yazılan arama sorgularına bakarak, artık tasarımda hemen vurgulanan kapsamlı adım adım eğitimler oluşturduk.
Ayrıca, üstbilgide tam ekran arama kaplaması ve kenar çubuğunda ek bir arama çubuğu ile WPBeginner’da arama yapmayı kolaylaştırdık.
İleriye dönük olarak, WordPress etiketlerinden yaratıcı bir şekilde yararlanan içerik portalları oluşturarak kullanıcıların aradıklarını bulmalarını kolaylaştıracağız.

WPBeginner sayımında sorduğum sorulardan biri de sahip olduğumuz bir ürünün adını söylemekti. Bu kadar çok kişinin ürünlerimiz hakkında bilgi sahibi olmaması oldukça şaşırtıcıydı. Yeni tasarımda, sahip olduğumuz ürünleri vurgulamak için daha iyi bir iş çıkaracağız.

FontAwesome ve Yeni Yazı Tipi
Yeni tasarımcıda simge yazı tipinin kullanıldığını fark edebilirsiniz. FontAwesome olarak adlandırılıyor ve Dave Gandy’nin çalışmalarının büyük bir hayranıyım.
Tüm ürünlerimizde onun çalışmalarını kullanıyoruz ve FontAwesome’ın gururlu destekçileriyiz.
İşin eğlenceli yanı, FontAwesome’ın yanı sıra diğer özelliklerimizi de kullanırsanız WPBeginner logosunu yazı tipi olarak ekleyebilirsiniz.
Yeni tasarımda artık Typekit aracılığıyla Proxima Nova yazı tipini kullanıyoruz.
Yeni Paylaşım Eklentisi
Geçmişte, Floating Social Bar eklentisinin bir varyasyonunu kullandık.
Twitter, Facebook ve diğerlerindeki değişikliklerden sonra WPBeginner için yeni bir paylaşım eklentisi oluşturmanın zamanının geldiğini hissettim.
Twitter sayısını doğru bir şekilde çekiyor, ancak daha da önemlisi artık toplam paylaşım sayısına sahip.
Yüzen davranışı durdurmayı seçtim ve bunun yerine paylaş düğmeleri artık her gönderinin başına ve sonuna ekleniyor. Bu, daha küçük ekran boyutlarında daha iyi bir kullanıcı deneyimine yardımcı olacaktır.
Yeni e-Kitap ve Optin Formları
Her yazının altında, WordPress araç setimi indirmek için yeni bir optin formu göreceksiniz. Bu e-Kitap, web sitelerimizde kullandığımız araçları tam olarak paylaşıyor.
WPBeginner planından farklıdır çünkü o size sadece WPBeginner’da ne kullandığımızı gösterir.

Ayrıca kenar çubuğundaki katılım formunu 2 adımlı bir katılım süreci olan MonsterLinks ile değiştirdim. Kenar çubuğu katılım formu, gerçek alanı haklı çıkaracak kadar yüksek bir oranda dönüşüm sağlamadı. Artık e-posta yoluyla abone olmak istiyorsanız, bunu kenar çubuğundaki e-posta simgesine tıklayarak yapabilirsiniz.
Sırada Ne Var
Ön uç değişikliklerinin yanı sıra, WPBeginner ekibinin önümüzdeki aylarda daha kapsamlı kılavuzlar oluşturmasını kolaylaştıracak birçok arka uç değişikliği yaptık.
WPBeginner videoları üyelik sitesi bir revizyondan geçecek. Şu anda hala eski temayı kullanıyor.
Bunu, başlangıç videoları kursunu ve 500’den fazla YouTube videomuzu merkezi bir yerde bir araya getirecek bir LMS sistemine dönüştüreceğiz.

Love the redesign. Just out of interest, what do you think of Google’s announcement on pop ups and rankings? For once I’m with Google on this. I hadn’t been on your site more than a couple of seconds before a pop up appears asking me to subscribe (I do already). I’ve not had time to even check out the content and see if I like it and I’m being asked to subscribe. It’s become a constant irritant online. Is there a way you can add tracking to opt in monster, so that if I’m clicking through from one of your newsletters, the subscribe pop up doesn’t appear? Now, that would be a selling point.
Anyway I digress (couldn’t help it, the pop was REALLY annoying!!) – your site looks great and your content is really fabulous. Ask visitors if they want to subscribe after they’ve had time to read your content and you may find you get a higher opt in rate….

Hello, WP Beginner, I recently started working with wordpress cms and found it very easy because I use most (if not all) of your site materials. I build websites for clients and I have my a free host company I use. I browse through your site, at least, not less than 8 times a day, looking for solutions to solve my clients’ problems. I was browsing through your site when it suddenly changed from the old design to this new one! I loved the former one than this because the former design displayed a full-width navigation menu on my small phone, making it very easy to navigate through, but this new design shrinks the whole navigation items into a “MENU” I must click on before the rest are displayed! I would love to use this opportunity to ask, “how can I remove the responsiveness from a wordpress theme and make it display a full width navigation menu even on smart phones. One of my clients have been asking for it, and I can’t solve that problem. Thanks and God bless.

I use a theme from the wordpress theme directory and the name of the theme is WP knowledge base. how can i remove the responsiveness from the particular theme, and from all themes in general, making it display a FULL WIDTH NAVIGATION MENU even on small phone screens, exactly as your former design was. Thanks for the feedback. Most users find the collapsed navigational menu easier to use on smaller screens. It is easier to tap, and more items can be displayed in the menu.
If you would like to use full-width menu, then you can start with a WordPress theme that is not fully responsive. You can also set width using CSS.

I love the new look of the site. Nice job! It appears that your total width is around 940px. Was there any specific reason for going with the narrow width?

Because most of our content images are 520px wide. We want to make sure that we keep our site fast because a lot of our users don’t have fast internet. Going with bigger content width and uploading larger size images further slows down the site.
This is not noticeable in the western part of the world, but a lot of other countries have very slow internet.
