WordPress 5.4 släpptes tidigare idag, och det är den första stora releasen 2020.
Denna new release är fullpackad med många funktioner, många av dem är utvalda kring WordPress block editor. Denna release kommer att förbättra sättet du skapar content på dina websites.
I den här artikeln kommer vi att dela med oss av vad som är new i WordPress 5.4 och vilka funktioner du bör prova efter updating av dina websites.
WordPress 5.4 är en större version, och om du inte har ett hanterat webbhotell för WordPress måste du initiera updating manuellt.
Import! Glöm inte att göra en komplett backup av WordPress innan du påbörjar updating.
Ny och förbättrad Block Editor i WordPress 5.4
WordPress 5.4 är inriktad på att förbättra Content Editor. Detta inkluderar nya funktioner, förbättringar och nya block.

Fullscreen Editor kommer att vara standard i WordPress 5.4
WordPress 5.4 visar Block Editor i helskärmsläge som standard.
Denna förändring kommer att märkas på nya WordPress installationer, eller om du öppnar WordPress admin area från en ny device, webbläsare eller i inkognitoläge.
Om du uppgraderar från WordPress 5.3 med samma webbläsare och device som du använder regelbundet, kommer din editor att öppnas med det senaste läget som du hade aktiverat.
Du kan stänga av fullskärmsläget genom att clicka på Editor settings och avmarkera alternativet ”Fullskärmsläge”.

New Blocks i WordPress 5.4
WordPress 5.4 ger dig två nya block som du kan använda när du skriver content.
1. Blocket Social Icons
Som namnet antyder tillåter blocket Social Icons dig att add to social media icons i dina posts och pages.
Därefter kan du klicka på knappen add och välja ett socialt nätverk som du gillar att lägga till. Du kan sedan klicka på ikonen för det sociala nätverket och ange länken till din profil.
Social Icons block bara allow you to add social media icons with links to your profiles. Det lägger ej till sociala delningsknappar. För det behöver du fortfarande ett plugin för sociala medier med funktioner för delning.
2. Blocket Knappar
WordPress 5.4 introducerar blocket Buttons som kommer att ersätta blocket Button. Som du kan gissa från namnet på det nya blocket, tillåter det dig att lägga till flera knappar sida vid sida.
Du kan välja bakgrundsfärg eller gradientfärg för varje knapp och välja mellan två olika stilar.
Förbättrade Block som du bör prova i WordPress 5.4
Flera block i WordPress 5.4 har förbättrats med new enhancements. Här är de bästa förändringarna som kommer att göra stor skillnad i din skrivupplevelse.
Fler färgalternativ för Block
WordPress 5.4 erbjuder new options för färgval för flera block. Detta allow you att skapa mer engagerande layouts för dina posts och pages.
Tidigare kunde användare bara ändra färgen på all text i ett stycke. Med WordPress 5.4 kan du nu ändra färgen på all text i ett block i ett stycke.
Du kan också välja text- och bakgrundsfärger med gradienter för cover-block, och du kan till och med välja bakgrunds- och textfärger för alla block i ett gruppblock.
Om du regelbundet använder blocket Columns kan du också använda färger för att separera kolumner från vanliga stycken.
Verktyg för att välja block
En new knapp i toolbaren allow you nu att enkelt select block. Detta är ett mycket användbart tools, viss när du har kapslade block inuti ett gruppblock.
Klicka bara på select tool och för sedan musen till det block som du vill välja.
Drag and drop för att lägga till featured image
Tidigare behövde du manuellt välja att uploada och ställa in den featured image. Detta matchade inte drag and drop-funktionen i content editor.
Nu med WordPress 5.4 kan du helt enkelt drag and drop en image till featured image section.
Bättre mobil toolbar för Block Editor
Tidigare, om du var tvungen att editera ett blogginlägg med hjälp av en mobil device, kanske du har notice hur toolbaren för blockinställningar flyttade runt.
Detta gjorde det ganska svårt att använda Editorn på mobila enheter. WordPress 5.4 har fixat detta med en fast toolbar högst upp.
Välj storlek på images i blocket Gallery
Tidigare kunde du ej välja bildstorlek för images i blocket för gallerier. Nu kan du välja bildstorlek direkt i inställningarna för blocket gallery.
Förbättrat block för senaste posterna
Tidigare innehöll blocket Senaste inlägg inte de utvalda bilderna. Du kan också välja storlek och justering för den featured image. Detta gör blocket Senaste inlägg mycket mer engagerande och användbart.
Du kan nu embedda TikTok videoklipp i WordPress
WordPress 5.4 innehåller oEmbed support för TikTok videoklipp. I grund och botten kan du nu add TikTok videos till din WordPress posts och pages precis som du skulle embed YouTube videos.
Klistra bara in URL:en till videoklippet så embedar WordPress det automatiskt.
Updated Privacy Tools i WordPress 5.4
WordPress 5.4 ger förbättringar av de built-in tools för integritet. Export av personuppgifter inkluderar nu session tokens, community events location, och customize användare meta.
Export av personuppgifter kommer nu i två filer i HTML och JSON. HTML-filen innehåller en innehållsförteckning högst upp för enklare navigation.
Förändringar för utvecklare i WordPress 5.4

We work a lot with WordPress sites, including our own, and we just can’t get used to the new block editor. The first plugin I ever install on a fresh WordPress site is Classic Editor!
Is it just me, or did they change it too much too fast?

The goal of the block editor was to update WordPress’ interface to be more up to date similar to other platforms. It is difficult to say if something was changed too fast but that is a strength of WordPress that users are able to install the classic editor

It seems to me that those of us who prefer using Classic Editor are being ignored or weeded out. Is there anything for us in this new release?

The Classic editor is the previous editor for WordPress so there likely won’t be updates to it unless there is an update to the classic editor plugin. For those using the classic editor, the developer enhancements will indirectly assist and in the future, we hope you’ll give the block editor a chance

At first, I had my problems, too with the block editor and I kept the classic editor with the plugin. I switched to the block editor shortly afterwards and I just rebiult my site with it and in my opinion it is so much better. It has more option, why it takes time to learn how to use it. I can recommend it. I was looking for years for a plugin to make blocks like posts-its, now you can build that.

That’s a significant move. Although I don’t use it frequently but I like the changes. Among all of them ”More Color Options for Blocks” was much needed. Bang we got it now.

The block editor can take some time getting used to but it’s worth the effort. With blocks you can speed up development especially if have global content. You can save formatted blocks to use everywhere on your site and when you update one they all update saving you valuable time from editing every instance.
