WordPress 5.0 släpptes för bara några timmar sedan. Det är den första och enda stora WordPress-versionen 2018 med en helt new uppsättning förbättringar och några stora förändringar. I den här artikeln kommer vi att visa dig vad som är new i WordPress 5.0 och vilka funktioner du bör prova efter updating av dina websites.
WordPress 5.0 är en stor release och om du inte har ett hanterat webbhotell för WordPress måste du initiera updating manuellt.

Introducerar Gutenberg Den nya Block Based Editor
WordPress 5.0 kommer med en helt new Editor med kodnamnet Gutenberg. Det är en blockbaserad editor som allow användare att skapa beautiful layouts med hjälp av content-block.
Den gamla WordPress-redigeraren var ett enkelt textfönster. Det fungerade bra, men du var tvungen att använda olika metoder för att lägga till images, skapa gallerier, shortcodes, embeds för videoklipp och andra content-element.
Den nya Editorn ersätter dem med en strömlinjeformad skrivupplevelse där varje innehållselement är omslutet av ett block. You can move them around the editor, change their settings, and create engaging layouts without writing code.
Som standard kommer det med flera block för att add to de vanligaste innehållselementen. Detta inkluderar block för att add to images, ljud, video, fotogalleri, cover image, listor, citat, media, text, knappar och mer.
Blocken har sin egen toolbar och sina egna settings. Förutom grundläggande alternativ för format kan du också ändra bredd, färger och andra attribut.
Widgets ingår också som block, så du kan enkelt lägga till shortcodes, senaste inlägg, senaste kommentarer, kategorier och archives.
Om du förlitar dig på att lägga till shortcodes i dina artiklar kan du fortsätta använda dem som ett block.
Den nya Editorn gör också embeds mycket enklare. Förstora bara section embeds under knappen add block, så kommer du att kunna se alla valfria alternativ för embed.
Detta gör det mycket enklare att lägga till videoklipp, tweets och Facebook embeds. Varje embed är ett eget block, så du kan justera deras inställningar precis som alla andra block.
Om du känner dig lite distraherad av WordPress admin sidebar, kan du helt enkelt byta till det distraktionsfria helskärmsläget. Då döljs WordPress admin sidebar och du får mycket mer utrymme för att utforma ditt content.
Du hittar alla dina vanliga funktioner för redigering av inlägg prydligt undangömda under sidebaren. Detta inkluderar publicering och save alternativ, permalänk eller post-slug, kategorier och taggar, excerpt, och mer.
Skapa och återanvänd block
Om du ofta addar saker med samma stil eller content kan du nu spara dem som återanvändbara block som du kan använda senare när det behövs.
Du behöver bara edit:a ett block som du vill göra återanvändbart. När du är nöjd med det klickar du på menypunkterna i blockets toolbar och väljer ”Add to reusable blocks”.
Du kommer att bli ombedd att ange ett namn för detta block. Efter det kommer WordPress att save detta som ett återanvändbart block. Du hittar det under knappen Add Blocks och kan återanvända det i andra posts.
Editera befintligt content efter upgrading to WordPress 5.0
WordPress 5.0 kommer ej att påverka något av ditt gamla content, och du kommer fortfarande att kunna edit äldre artiklar. När du redigerar en äldre artikel kommer du att se ditt content omslutet av ett ”Classic” block editor.
Du kan fortsätta att editera artikeln i det klassiska blocket. Du kan också dela upp den i flera block som gör att du kan använda alla funktioner i den nya WordPress editor.

Twenty Nineteen – Det nya standardtemat för WordPress

Om du ej hör något från dem kan du tillfälligt inaktivera pluginet/temat och hitta ett alternativ. Alternativt kan du installera Classic Editor tills ditt favorit plugin / theme har bytt över.

Okay, I have gone through the new updates and I really hate it. WordPress is a community centric CMS and they should avoid updates on fancy looks. The editor is worst formatted. With almost all the elements are ’display on hover’. It will be really difficult for the newbie users to adapt to this messy format. It will waste hours of time for the first time users on just to figure out the editor.

After upgrading to 5, our sites got complete disabled. No one can edit the pages any more with our paid visual composer.
We ended up having to pay visual composer again for the WP 5 compatible version.
WP should have told the users the impact and remedy upon upgrade.

Right now, you can continue using a page builder plugin if you want. It would be interesting to see how page builders evolve and what happens next as the block editor further improves in the future.

this WP update is a disaster, just don’t do it. i have had nothing but problems. first, for some reason the feature image no longer shows on social shares although looking at the meta code the og:image tag is correct. Also, all of a sudden after the feature image and article title the content is hidden and readers must click a ’read more’ button to see the entire article. the editor is confusing and embeds were already super easy with the classic editor. WP needs to rethink this change and whoever is set to make money from this junky editor and changes that make our sites less user-friendly now.

Most of the reports I’ve seen state that WP 5 will break a lot of sites. I run web sites to present content, not to exercise my programming skills.
Forcing Gutenberg onto all WP users is a colossal feat of hubris, especially given the overwhelming negative feedback given when the idea first floated. Telling people what they want is one of the most arrogant things anyone can do, and WP management is guilty of this.
Instead of ”fixing” my sites to work with Gutenberg, I’ll most likely switch to the fork ClassicPress.

In the meantime, if you don’t like the Gutenberg Block Editor, you can switch back to the Classic Editor.

No one asked for Gutenberg.
WP management decided a new editor was needed to compete with other CMS. From what I’ve read, the initial feedback on Gutenberg was overwhelmingly negative, but WP management decided to go forward anyway. It appears that the decision was a financial one, not one that was community driven.

Take a look at the 2,000+ mainly negative comments over at the plugin hub – I think it speaks volumes.
I see from the Editorial Staff here the comment that more ”Block” changes are coming.
Now, you simply cannot run a business with WP being a core part of it with such uncertainty.
Do those deciding on these changes understand this? Was the wider WP community consulted?
This is a watershed moment in the history of WordPress, one that I believe will be the start of its decline.
Let’s hope they come to there senses.

We don’t recommend hiding update notifications. It is a major release and you should update as soon as possible. However, if you must do it, then you can use Easy Updates Manager plugin to do that.

Alternatively, we recommend using MonsterInsights for more detailed analytics. It is what we use on our website.
