Schemat för WordPress 4.8 har släppts. Det blir den första stora WordPress-versionen under 2017. Vi har följt utvecklingen på nära håll, och vi är glada att kunna rapportera att den slutliga versionen förväntas släppas omkring den 8 juni 2017. I den här artikeln kommer vi att visa dig vad som kommer i WordPress 4.8 med funktioner och screenshots.
Obs/observera: Du kan testa betaversionen på din dator eller i en staging-miljö genom att använda WordPress Beta Tester plugin.
Den officiella betaversionen kommer att släppas den 12 maj, vilket innebär att inga fler utvalda funktioner kommer att läggas till förrän i den slutliga versionen av WordPress 4.8. Det kan dock hända att vissa av funktionerna i betaversionen ej kommer att finnas med i den slutliga versionen.
Visual Editor i textredigeraren Widget
Som standard levereras WordPress med en widget för plain text. Widgeten innehåller en enkel textbox där du kan add to text och HTML-kod.
Beginnare som inte är bekanta med HTML kunde inte add to links eller ej använda grundläggande format i textwidgeten. Detta kommer att ändras i WordPress 4.8.
Den nya textwidgeten levereras med en enkel visual editor och textredigerare. Liknande den som du ser på vyn för edit av post.
Detta kommer att allow Beginner användare att enkelt lägga till länkar, skapa listor, eller göra text fet / kursiv utan att skriva någon HTML-kod.
Den nya widgeten för images
Just nu måste du skriva HTML eller använda ett plugin om du vill visa en image i sidebar i WordPress.
WordPress 4.8 kommer att introducera en bildwidget som gör det möjligt för användare att enkelt add to images i sidebaren. Du kommer att kunna uploada en image direkt från widgeten eller välja vilken image som helst från WordPress mediabibliotek.
Genom att clicka på select image öppnas popupen WordPress media uploader där användare kan uploada eller selecta en image. Efter att ha infogat bilden kommer användarna att kunna se en preview av bilden i widgetens area.
Den nya widgeten för videoklipp
I likhet med widgeten image kommer WordPress 4.8 också att introducera widgeten Video. Det kommer att allow användare att enkelt uploada videoklipp till sin sidebar eller visa någon video från YouTube, Vimeo eller någon annan oEmbed provider.
Note: Vi rekommenderar att du aldrig uploadar videoklipp till din WordPress site. Istället bör du använda en video hosting provider som gillar YouTube eller Vimeo. Klicka bara på knappen ”Select Video” i widgeten och klicka sedan på länken ”Insert from URL”.
Add URL:en till videoklippet som du vill embedda och klicka sedan på knappen ”Add to widget”. Popupen för mediauppladdaren försvinner och du kommer att se en thumbnail preview av din video inuti widgeten.
Widget för WordPress dashboard för nyheter och händelser
WordPress 4.8 kommer också att introducera widgeten WordPress Events and News dashboard widget. Den kommer att visas på din WordPress dashboard page och kommer att innehålla information om WordPress-nyheter samt WordPress-händelser nära din location. Den kommer att ersätta den äldre widgeten WordPress News som bara visade WordPress News.
Om du har flera användare på din website kommer widgeten att visa händelser för dem baserat på deras location. Den kommer automatiskt att försöka upptäcka en användares location genom att skicka tidszon, språkversion och IP-adress till api.wordpress.org.
Användare kan också edit platsen för att manuellt enter sin plats eller view händelser från någon annan plats.
Förbättringar under huven
Dessa updates förbättrar betydande delar av WordPress core men är främst avsedda för utvecklare.

You mention users should not upload videos directly to their site but use a video host. Does this apply in all situations, or would it sometimes be better performance-wise if the site has a high bandwidth server or CDN to self-help extremely short videos i.e. under 20MB?

Hey William,
It is not just about bandwidth and performance. It is also about user experience. Your server may have the resources to serve the videos but your users may have slower or unreliable internet, older browser, no flash, compatibility issues with your video format, etc. Third party video hosting services such as YouTube are extremely good at optimizing user experience and serve your videos even on slow connections.

This will be a welcome addition but a lot of people may unknowingly strip out current edits from their existing widgets. Like the issue with the post editor, when you use the visual editor you can strip existing code (like a div tag for example). If you have the visual editor on, will this strip HTML like the post editor does?

Meh. Upgrades that may muck up text widgets on existing sites scares me. For new sites/users I can see the appreciation for the changes though.

Will the new Image, Text and Video Widgets be a new way to add advertisements in sidebars? It would seem to be that this would be an ideal use for them.

These are good improvements, but even some established plugins, such as the Black Studio TinyMCE Widget, have more features that enable the same tools found in the WP editor to insert images, videos, links, etc. Why didn’t WordPress think of that? And is ”Hello, Dolly” really necessary? Does anyone use that?

with the new video widget, will it allow for the &rel=0 to hide related videos?
I assume Olathe container will be size responsive?
Would also be great if it allowed for lazy load behind a custom thumbnail image.

I welcome those improvements to WordPress! I’m sure many of us have been wondering why those wasn’t built in WP, so no need now for extra plugins that slows down the sites

Great improvements but it would be great if The New Image Widget could have the option (input) to add URL link to the image as well. Most of the images in sidebar need to be linked to some external website.

When you insert an image in WordPress, the modal has link options along with title, caption, link target, css classes. So it’s super easy

I’m afraid I won’t get much excited about any of these updates until they improve the core functionality of the post editor. I find it quite flaky and the fact that it’s impossible to add code without a plugin is a major problem.
But having said that, the new widgets look very cool.

It is as if they did half the job and then stopped.

Finally, a visual editor widget! It’s always great when we can remove a plugin from our websites.
