For bloggers, marketers, and small business owners, finding the right video hosting site can be a challenge.
After extensive research, the biggest lesson we learned is that not every video hosting platform is created equal, and each one has its own unique pros and cons.
We have been running the WPBeginner channel on YouTube for a long time, so it’s our top choice.
However, we understand that it may not be the ideal platform for everyone. That’s why we tested several other platforms, focusing on key aspects like ease of use, available features, and pricing.
By thoroughly comparing these video hosting sites, we hope to help you choose the one that best fits your specific requirements and budget.
In this article, we will share some of the best video hosting sites for bloggers, marketers, and business owners.

How We Test And Review Video Hosting Sites?
Videos are the most engaging form of content and are highly effective for conversions. However, they also take up a lot of space and bandwidth.
WordPress is not optimized for videos, and the visual medium consumes a lot of WordPress hosting resources, which can slow down your site’s speed. This can result in a negative user experience and a drop in search results rankings.
To learn more, see our guide on why you should never upload videos to WordPress.
We recommend using a video hosting site instead. They have more server resources to serve video files, and you don’t have to worry about WordPress performance.
When we tested the most popular ones, we paid special to the following criteria:
- Ease of Use: We have prioritized video hosting sites that are easy to use for beginners and do not require any coding experience. We have also tried to include tools that have a free plan.
- Features: An ideal video hosting site should have features like video management, high-quality streaming, playlists, analytics, and video editing.
- Performance: To test the quality of service, we uploaded and streamed videos to analyze loading speeds, playback quality, and overall performance across different devices and internet connections.
- Scalability: We considered whether the platform can grow with a user’s needs, including support for large video libraries, audience growth, and advanced marketing tools.
- Integrations: We checked how well the platform integrates with popular tools like CMS platforms, email marketing services, and social media networks.
- Reliability: We have only recommended tools that we have tested ourselves on real websites.
Why Trust WPBeginner?
At WPBeginner, we’re a team of experts with tons of experience with WordPress, hosting, SEO, online marketing, and more.
When it comes to video hosting sites, we have been running the WPBeginner YouTube channel for years. This has given us invaluable experience with video creation and optimization.
It has taught us exactly what features are essential for hosting videos. This can include everything from reliable playback quality and audience analytics to seamless integrations with websites and marketing tools.
We have used this knowledge about videos when testing and evaluating all the hosting platforms on this list. For more details, see our editorial process.
That being said, let’s take a look at some of the best video hosting sites that you can use.
1. YouTube

YouTube is the most popular video hosting website by far. It allows you to upload videos, create channels, and build a following.
At WPBeginner, we use YouTube to upload our WordPress video tutorials. Check out the WPBeginner channel on YouTube to see how we use the platform to get more subscribers and visitors to our website.
In our opinion, if you’re a marketer and business owner, you’ll probably want to capitalize on YouTube’s huge potential.
It is the world’s second most popular search engine and the second biggest social media website, with 2.1 billion active users.
Plus, if you are a beginner, then YouTube makes it super easy for you to edit your videos by allowing you to trim or crop unwanted footage, add audio effects, add text and overlays to your videos, use transition effects, and more.
You can even add links, annotations, captions, and subtitles to your videos.

Other than that, the platform also offers a live stream feature so you can host live broadcast events, news, or just casual vlogs.
Even if you are planning to run a membership site, YouTube has you covered with its powerful privacy control features. These tools allow you to restrict video access exclusively to your subscribers, ensuring that only your members can view your content.

Overall, it is a great video hosting site that lets you build a following with your channel, find a new audience, get featured in video search results, and grow your business.
For more details, see our guide on how to start a YouTube channel.
Pros of YouTube
- YouTube has a Partners Program that you can join to earn money online from your videos. This program also offers more benefits like analytics, longer videos, and video editing tools.
- It offers free video hosting. This allows creators to upload high-quality videos without worrying about storage limits or additional hosting fees.
- We appreciate YouTube’s Analytics feature for tracking audience demographics, watch time, engagement rates, traffic sources, and more.
- You can use the Smash Balloon plugin to easily embed YouTube videos on your website.
- YouTube has a community tab that allows creators to interact with their audience through polls, posts, and updates.
Cons of YouTube
- While YouTube does offer monetization options, they come with strict eligibility requirements (e.g., 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time) for you to start making money.
Why we recommend YouTube: If you are a marketer or business owner, we recommend opting for YouTube as your video site. It comes with free hosting, lets you upload high-quality videos, and has a huge audience, making it a great choice.
2. Vimeo

Vimeo is an excellent video hosting and streaming site for membership sites and selling videos. It gives you a limited hosting space to upload videos for free. However, unlimited bandwidth and ad-free display are the key perks for all videos.
During our research, we realized that you will need to buy an affordable premium plan to upload large videos. The paid plans include privacy options, video editing tools, customer support, and Google Analytics.
We really like its privacy controls feature, as Vimeo lets you make your videos public, private, or unlisted and even lets you hide them. This allows you to embed your video on your WordPress site without displaying it on your Vimeo homepage.

Additionally, you can password-protect your videos so that only the users with the password can view and share them. This way, you can create exclusive content for your paid members.
Unlike YouTube, Vimeo is an ad-free platform and does not have an advertising program that you can join to earn money.
However, you can use their “Vimeo on Demand” feature to sell videos directly to viewers.

You can also create and sell subscription plans that allow viewers to access exclusive content, such as early access to new videos, behind-the-scenes content, and discounts on merchandise.
We use Vimeo to host private videos for our exclusive members-only area. If you have a membership site or you want to create and sell online courses, then Vimeo is an excellent option.
For more details, you can also see our comparison on YouTube vs Vimeo.
Pros of Vimeo
- You can host live events like concerts, webinars, and workshops on Vimeo. You can also ask users to pay to watch.
- We appreciate that Vimeo lets you customize the video player to match your branding. This includes adding your logo, changing player colors, and removing Vimeo branding.
- It supports up to 8K video resolution and ensures high-quality playback with adaptive streaming.
- We love its built-in tools for team collaboration, allowing multiple users to review, comment, and approve videos.
- It provides video analytics, including viewer engagement, geographic insights, and performance metrics.
Cons of Vimeo
- It can be a bit expensive.
- Unlike YouTube, Vimeo is not a social platform designed for content discovery. This makes it harder to reach a broader audience.
Why we recommend Vimeo: If you want to create exclusive video content for your membership site or want to sell videos online, then Vimeo is the ideal platform for you.
3. Jetpack VideoPress

Jetpack is a popular plugin suite that also includes a video hosting feature. It shows completely ad-free videos and does not show related content from other websites. However, it is a premium video hosting service and requires a paid Jetpack subscription plan.
We thoroughly tested the tool on a real website to understand all of its features. To learn more about it, see our Jetpack review.
The tool is built specifically for WordPress users, making it super easy to upload and manage videos right from the WordPress dashboard.

It also uses a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to ensure that videos load quickly no matter where your audience is located. This helps deliver fast, high-quality video streaming with minimal buffering.
Other than that, it allows you to set privacy controls for your videos, restricting video access to specific users or making videos private. You can also embed videos with password protection for more control over who can view them.

Jetpack VideoPress is also fully responsive and mobile-optimized, ensuring that your videos look great across all devices. This makes it an ideal choice for business owners who want to show ad-free videos.
Pros of Jetpack VideoPress
- We really like that videos hosted with Jetpack are indexed by search engines, helping improve SEO.
- You can customize the video player to match your branding by removing Jetpack branding, customizing the color scheme, and enabling features like captions or subtitles.
- During our research, we found that VideoPress supports HD video quality, including those shot in 1080p resolution.
- When you upload a video, it is automatically optimized for playback across different devices and internet speeds.
Cons of Jetpack VideoPress
- We didn’t like that if you are using the free Jetpack plan or a basic plan, you won’t have access to the VideoPress features.
- It doesn’t offer any built-in monetization features like ad revenue sharing, subscription options, or pay-per-view models.
Why we recommend Jetpack VideoPress: If you have a small business and want to display ad-free videos on your website, then you can opt for Jetpack VideoPress.
4. Wistia

Wistia is a professional video hosting site for marketers and businesses. It also offers a free plan with a limit of 3 videos with features like a custom thumbnail, a Wistia-branded video player, password protection, privacy settings, and more.
We like that it has a white-label option if you want a fully branded experience. This means your video player and content will not have Wistia branding. However, you will need a pro version for that.

This video hosting site also provides heatmaps that visually show how viewers interact with your video. You can track engagement by seeing which parts of the video are watched the most, where people drop off, and how long they watched, helping you refine future content.
Plus, you can see viewer history and trend graphs and add call-to-action buttons, related videos, and annotations.
Wistia also has powerful integrations with email marketing services and CRM software like Constant Contact, Drip, AWeber, and others.
Pros of Wistia
- Wistia offers detailed privacy settings, including password protection, domain restrictions, and private video links.
- We were surprised to find its built-in lead generation tools, such as forms and email capture options, that you can add directly to your videos.
- With Wistia Channels, you can create a branded video gallery on your site to showcase all your videos in one place.
- It shows ad-free videos.
- Wistia’s conversion tracking features help you monitor how well your videos are driving business goals such as form submissions, product purchases, or newsletter signups.
Cons of Wistia
- For beginners, Wistia can be somewhat complicated to navigate.
- It only provides some basic SEO features.
- It doesn’t support live streaming.
Why we recommend Wistia: Wistia is a great choice for marketers who want to show ad-free videos with a fully customized video player.
5. Vidyard

Vidyard is a high-end video hosting site for large businesses and professionals. It includes premium content marketing tools to promote your videos.
We love how it comes with multiple video player styles and custom editing options. You can upload videos with call-to-action buttons and perform an A/B test against video thumbnails to see which works best.
Vidyard also offers powerful and detailed analytics, including viewer history, engagement, and more, to improve your videos.
It is also a great option for companies that need to create training and onboarding videos as it lets you create video content for specific internal teams or new employees.
Pros of Vidyard
- It lets you customize your video player.
- You can add forms and calls-to-action directly within the video player to collect viewer information.
- We like that it allows team collaboration on video content. You can share videos internally for feedback, review, or collaboration on video marketing or sales campaigns.
- Vidyard sends real-time alerts whenever a viewer interacts with your video, such as watching a video or filling out a form.
Cons of Vidyard
- We don’t like that Vidyard’s lower-tier plans often come with audience limitations, such as a maximum number of viewers or restricted video hosting options.
- It does not support live streaming, which can be a major limitation for users who want to host live events, webinars, or interactive sessions.
Why we recommend Vidyard: If you have a large business and plan to start video content marketing, then we recommend Vidyard.
6. Dailymotion

Dailymotion is another popular video hosting site that you can use to upload your marketing and business videos. It has a free partner account with unlimited bandwidth and storage, featured videos, privacy settings, a video player, and more.
This makes it an ideal choice for bloggers with a small budget. We appreciate that it lets you upload several videos in a day, and you can use the drag and drop feature to upload complete playlists.
You can also optimize your videos for SEO by adding the title, description, and tags.
Pros of Dailymotion
- Dailymotion provides monetization opportunities for content creators through its Dailymotion Partner Program. You can earn revenue by displaying ads on your videos.
- You can embed Dailymotion videos on your website.
- We love its mobile app that lets you upload, view, and share videos easily.
- It has community features that allow users to interact with each other by liking, commenting, and sharing videos.
Cons of DailyMotion
- Free accounts on Dailymotion are limited in terms of customization and branding.
- It has a smaller community compared to YouTube.
Why we recommend DailyMotion: If you are a blogger with a small budget, then Dailymotion is a great platform for sharing your videos for free.
7. SproutVideo

SproutVideo is a paid video hosting site for bloggers, marketers, and businesses. It has a free trial account where you can test the video player and its features. However, we noticed that it has limited options, and you will have to upgrade to access all the settings.
Some notable features include video themes, layouts, analytics, social sharing buttons, call-to-action placement, and viewer engagement history.
You will need to get the embed code for each video and use the Custom HTML block to add video code.
Pros of SproutVideo
- SproutVideo uses a content delivery network (CDN) to ensure fast video load times.
- We love that it allows for easy video import, including bulk uploading of multiple videos at once.
- SproutVideo supports both on-demand video streaming and live streaming.
- It lets you control who views your videos by setting access restrictions such as password protection, IP whitelisting, domain restrictions, and geoblocking.
Cons of Sprout Video
- We found its’ user interface to be a bit complex.
- Unlike platforms like YouTube or Dailymotion, SproutVideo does not come with a built-in community or audience.
Why we recommend SproutVideo: If you are looking for a simple video hosting site, then we recommend SproutVideo.
What Is the Best Video Hosting Site for Your Business?
In our opinion, YouTube is the best video hosting site for businesses because it offers great monetization options, privacy controls, and bandwidth.
Plus, we have been using this tool ourselves to grow our audience and have found it to be a reliable solution.
However, if you want to create exclusive video content for your members or sell your high-quality videos, then you can opt for Vimeo.
Similarly, if you want to display ad-free videos, then Jetpack VideoPress and Wistia are great options.
On the other hand, if you’re a blogger who wants to share content on a smaller scale, then we recommend Dailymotion and SproutVideo.

YouTube is the best platform for video hosting as it gives tons of options for you to make customisation options.
for embedding on websites, we can delist the video on YouTube and then embed the link, this way we can prevent from appearing in YouTube search results.
Thanks for all the options and their comparative analysis.

I think there are many more benefits of using YouTube in terms of seo and ranking.
since it is not only a video platform but also the second largest search engine and is only second to Google.
using its interface and doing seo can improve the overall seo and ranking of the website through YouTube.
Thanks for the response.

If you want to have a paid videos on your site, how do you prevent users from getting the direct link to the YT/Video/others that they will share with others? AFAIK YT and other video platforms offer just private links, no special protection.
WPBeginner Support
For protecting videos like that, you would want to take a look at services like Vimeo that can limit where a video can be accessed.
