WordPress for iPad Features [Screenshots]

Apple’s new iPad is creating a buzz just like every other Apple product. There was over 700,000 copies sold in one day. WordPress announced a new version of their application called WordPress for iPhone/iPad OS 2.4. This is the first version of the WordPress app that is compatible Apple’s iPad.

There were no new features added to this application. This was the first time that WordPress did a release without additional features. Everything that you can do in WordPress 2.3 for iPhone, you can do on the iPad — but with an interface designed to take advantage of the new screen’s enlarged real estate.

With this new app and iPad’s large screen, you can now take advantage of the larger on-screen keyboard (or use an external keyboard) to type out your larger posts. This will certainly make longer blog posts much easier to write. You can also moderate, edit, or reply to comments. The large screen will help you to quickly moderate bulk comments.

Geo-tagging is also enabled in this version. You can let your users where the post was posted from if you so desire. But this feature would only work with 3G version of iPad.

i am planning to buy an iPad since it looks lighter than a regular desknote and i don not use much of the features of a laptop.:,,

The ipad is a great wanna have gadget, but i seriously believe that all those apps, even apps in general have no real future. Yeah the ipad is creating another buzz but keeping track of all those different platforms to create apps for them is killing apps in general. Html and css will take over, especially if you look at their development and cross platform usage.. and are easy capable and usable for creating online apps. I think that should be a goal.

I will continue my policy of avoiding all things Apple until one of their products is truly compelling for my happiness or business.

I had tried iPhone version, but it’s not a convenient one for me to write something long.

I think iPad will be great and with your screenshots, blogging will be easy with that Apple device too.

I’m not impressed with the IPad, I’d rather see more work on WordPress Android applications.

Thanks for the review, guys! I’m interested to see what we’re able to do in the future with image alignment, rich text editing, and lots of other stuff. You guys should make sure you’re not serving your mobile theme to the iPad, though — your normal design looks great on it. :)

Yes, we saw that our mobile version is serving on the iPad. We are working on fixing that :) Thanks Thomas for dropping by and commenting.

These screens are so awesome, I wish I had an iPad to mess around with! I tried updating Inside the Webb a few times from my iPhone and the app there works well, but the iPad has so much more room for edits and typing.

Needs multitasking support before blogging on an iPad becomes feasible.

In the iPhone version you don’t get to choose where the image is to be displayed. How about in the iPad version? Nice post, thanks.

You can add media and all other elements because of the larger screen.

I think I’ll wait for the 3G version too. Thanks for the screenshots.
