I have used Bluehost, SiteGround, and HostGator in the past. I think they are very similar when it comes to site performance. The big difference for me has been customer service and support. That’s where HostGator has exceeded my expectations by always responding quickly.
Both are great providers. We even have some HostPapa user reviews on our site. We don’t have them listed on this page to avoid choice paralysis, and we believe the providers on this page offer top notch service.
I Love WPEngine! They provided me with a Cloudflare enterprise plan and dedicated server with unlimited resources (I needed a dedicated server due to my site receiving over 500K hits a month) with Unlimited bandwidth!
I switched to GreenGeeks last year and have been impressed from Day 1. Their customer support is top notch. Quick to respond, always available, and patient with tech-challenged questions.
Thanks for such a detailed article. I agree. I have been hosting my website on Bluehost & I am completely happy with them. Reliable uptimes, prompt support & the new cPanel dashboard has everything I need.
I’m in the slow process of moving from HostGator to SiteGround. I’m disappointed not to see cPanel at SiteGround. But maybe I’ll be glad in the long run.
Yes, they recently removed cPanel, but to be honest the native admin panel in SiteGround is really user-friendly. Bluehost is moving towards a similar direction as well.
We believe overtime many hosts will switch to a more user-friendly (non-cPanel) admin panel.
We used HostGator for over 10 years but earlier this year switched to SiteGround because their servers are now hosted on Google Cloud which leads to really fast speed.
Wonderful article, if i need any help in wordpress blogging i m alwas check this site and my all prob have been easily solve, thanks for making a great website.
I literally have this page bookmarked for a long time. Your blog is my first go-to when I’m having issues with the websites I’m managing and you helped me with everything. Thank you!
You may need to edit this article. I seem to remember a recent article where you moved WPBeginner to a custom hosting on Siteground last year. You also mention that early in the article summarizing the top players. Further down your article in the tests still shows It as being hosted on HostGator in the Pro’s for that site? Not trying to be smart, just the editorial staff missed editing that entry?
Keep in mind, free SSL certs can be obtained independent of your hosting service these days. The integrated tools the hosts provide make it much easier to implement however.
WPBeginner is using a custom setup for our site, for more clarification on what we use on our site, you would want to take a look at our blueprint page here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/blueprint/
This is a great article. You have many on you site. I may be missing the placeto do this but do you have a link to print an article. Ilike to red and sometimes make notes so I prefer to print articles.
I use SiteGround’s WordPress Hosting and the GoGeek package. It’s absolutely brilliant for speed and this is so important these days. It performs well when testing with Pingdom and Google PageSpeed. It also provides daily backups and a staging feature which lets me create a copy of my live site which I can switch around quickly.
Thanks for the suggestions!! I bought my hosting space from another host, where I feel very comfortable with their reliability and Especially support. May be I would consider picking one from these list, if I am looking for a move.
Great article, wish I had read it earlier. I bought hosting from Hostnoc, but it is really good. Your list consists of good hosts too. Great suggestion.

I’m using Siteground Hosting from past 5 months. Their support is a nice plus good uptime.

Any Canadian managed hosting services. Exchange rate are just killing monthly subscription fees never know what the cost is going to be.
Editorial Staff
Hmm that’s a good question. As far as we know, HostPapa offers Canada servers, but they don’t offer CAD prices.
Exchange rates are indeed an issue. For managed hosting, we recommend WP Engine.

This post was a complete lifesaver as I was choosing website hosting late last year!
Detailed, easily explained (priceless for us who aren’t super tech-savvy) and the perfect amount of information needed.
I ultimately went for Dreamhost and couldn’t have made a better choice, much thanks to WPbeginner!
I’m also a member of your Facebook group and cannot even explain how valuable it has been so far and will continue to be.
THANK YOU!

Hi, do you know if any of the services can manage .com-br domains? I have the domain registred but at bluehost it did not seem I could use it.

Sadly, you would need to reach out to the hosting providers to see if they support that domain extension.
