WordPress 5.4は2020年3月31日にリリースされる予定です。今年最初のメジャーリリースとなり、いくつかの重要な改良が施される予定です。

ブロックエディターの改良点

WordPress 5.4では、新機能の追加や既存ブロックの拡張など、ブロックエディターの改善に重点を置いています。

コンテンツエディター内でブロックを使ってより多くのことができるようになるため、コンテンツ制作者にとっては朗報です。

新規: ウェルカムガイドモーダル

WordPress 5.4では、新規ユーザーにブロックエディターを紹介する新しいウェルカムガイドポップアップが追加されます。シンプルなスライドショーで、ブロックの説明、ブロックライブラリへのユーザーの誘導、ブロックエディターのチュートリアルへのリンクが表示されます。

WordPress 5.4の新規ブロック

WordPress 5.4では、2つの新しいブロックがライブラリに追加されます。

1.ソーシャルアイコンブロック

ソーシャルアイコンブロックは、WordPressの投稿やページ内にソーシャルメディアのプロフィールへのリンクを簡単に追加することができます。

追加ボタンをクリックしてアイコンを追加すれば、ソーシャルメディアのアイコンを追加できます。また、アイコンをクリックしてソーシャルメディアページへのリンクを提供することもできます。

注：これらのソーシャルメディア・アイコンは、プロフィールへのリンクを追加するだけです。ソーシャルシェアのためには、WordPressのソーシャルメディア・プラグインが必要です。

2.ボタンブロック

ボタンブロックはボタンブロックに置き換わります。新しいボタンブロックでは、複数のボタンを並べて追加できるようになりました。

2つの異なるスタイルから選択でき、独自のテキストと背景色を使用でき、グラデーションの背景色も追加できます。

WordPress 5.4でのブロックの改善点

WordPress 5.4では、WordPressブロックエディターと個々のブロックに多くの改良が加えられます。以下はベータ版に含まれる機能強化の一部です。

これまでは、段落ブロック全体のテキスト色しか変更できませんでした。WordPress 5.4では、段落内のテキストを選択して色を変更できるようになります。

現在、モバイル端末でブログ投稿を編集する場合、ツールバーがブロックの周りを移動することに気づくだろう。

WordPress 5.4では、現在編集しているブロックのタイプに応じて変化するフローティングツールバーを上部に表示することで、これを修正しました。

WordPress 5.4での変更点

WordPress 5.4では、開発者向けに大幅な改善が行われます。以下はその一部です。

WordPress 5.4では、カレンダーウィジェットのHTML出力が変更されます。正しいHTMLを生成するために、ナビゲーションリンクを<table>要素の直後にある<nav>HTML要素に移動します。(#39763)

do_shortcode()関数のエイリアスとして、新しいapply_shortcodes()関数が導入されました。(#37422)

いくつかの未使用のカスタマイザークラスは WordPress 5.4 で正式に非推奨となる。(#42364)

    I like all of them.

    Specially I love 3 features…
    1. Text color,
    2. Social follow icons… It will be best if they include social share…. May be in the next update,
    3. Recent Post with featured image…. This feature just make my day.

    I can already do one or two of these via plugins but it is always better to have native performance. The change of text colour within the paragraph is very welcome. It astounded me that this wasn’t available in the first version of blocks. The drag and drop featured image is one of those things that seems tiny but will become a welcome timesaver. I am looking forward to this update.

    Thanks for all this, a really useful article. The flexibility on colouring for limited text within a block is particularly welcome, so can we please get the facility to change the font size in the same way and can we change line spacing inside particular blocks to make them work like a conventional text editor?

      We are not in control of what is added to WordPress but this is certainly one possibility for something to add in the future :)

    I am really disappointed. I want dark mode for my website. And I want WordPress to natively support this.

      If you mean on the front end of your site, that would be determined by your specific theme rather than something WordPress core would handle
