これはベータリリースであり、WordPress 4.7 の最終リリースまで新機能が追加されないことを意味します。ただし、ベータ版の機能の一部は最終リリースに反映されない可能性があります。
新規デフォルトテーマ – Twenty Seventeen
WordPress 4.7は2016年最後のメジャーリリースとなる。恒例のように、来年の新しいデフォルトテーマが付属する。
Twenty Seventeenはこれまでのデフォルトテーマとは少し異なる。その主な焦点はブログよりもむしろビジネスサイトにあり、新規ユーザーのWordPressウェブサイトのセットアップを支援するスターターコンテンツまで付属している。現在のところ、スターターコンテンツ機能は新規サイトでのみ利用可能だが、このテーマがリリースされる頃には、既存のコンテンツを持つサイトでも利用できるようになる見込みだ。
また、ブログテーマとしても利用できる。Twenty Seventeenは、大きなアイキャッチ画像、鮮明なタイポグラフィ、モバイルを第一に考えたデザインが特徴だ。
動画ヘッダーのサポート
多くのプレミアムWordPressテーマでは、すでにユーザーが動画ヘッダーを追加できるようになっている。Twenty Seventeenは動画ヘッダーをサポートする最初のデフォルトテーマとなる。
mp4形式の動画をアップロードして使用することもできますし、動画のURLを入力するだけで、YouTubeやVimeoの動画を使用することもできます。
お使いのテーマが動画ヘッダーに対応していない場合、WordPressでYouTube動画をフルスクリーンの背景として、コーディングなしで簡単に追加する方法をご紹介します。
テーマ設定の流れ
WordPress 4.7では、テーマとサイトのセットアップフローが改善されます。カスタマイザーでは、インストールされているテーマがより洗練された形で表示され、テーマ検索が改善され、テーマカスタマイザーから直接セットアップができるようになります。
ライブプレビューでのカスタマイザーCSS
テーマにカスタムCSSを追加したいですか？テーマのカスタマイザーから直接できるようになりました。ただし、カスタムCSSはプレビューしているテーマに固有のものになります。
頻繁にテーマを変更する場合や、カスタムCSSをテーマに限定したくない場合は、WordPressでカスタムCSSを簡単に追加する方法のガイドを参照してください。
ユーザーの管理言語コントロール
現在、他の言語でWordPressをインストールすると、すべてのユーザーが同じ言語で管理インターフェースを表示します。
WordPress 4.7では、ユーザープロフィールから管理言語を切り替えることができるようになり、各ユーザーが好みの言語を選択できるようになります。ユーザーが言語を切り替えるには、インストーラが必要です。
PDFファイルのサムネイルプレビュー
現在、PDFファイルをアップロードした場合、WordPressにはファイルアイコンしか表示されません。WordPress用のPDFプラグインを使ってプレビューを追加することができます。
WordPress 4.7では、PDFファイルをメディアライブラリにアップロードすると、最初のページのサムネイルプレビューが表示されます。WordPressは、PDFファイルの添付ファイルページにもサムネイルプレビューを表示します。
エディターの強化
投稿エディターは、ほとんどのサイトオーナーがコンテンツ作成にほとんどの時間を費やす場所です。WordPressの各バージョンでは、投稿エディターが強化され、機能が追加されています。
WordPress 4.7では、エディターに微妙な、しかし重要な変更が加えられます。段落と見出しのセレクタメニューがトップバーに外観されるようになりました。下線ボタンは削除され、打ち消し線と水平線ボタンはキッチンシンクのバーに移動しました。
また、ツールチップやドロップダウンメニューにキーボードショートカットが表示されるようになりました。
アンダー・ザ・フッドの改良
これらの更新はWordPressコアの重要な部分を改善しますが、主に開発者向けです。
カスタム一括操作
開発者は、投稿日、コメント、ユーザーなどのさまざまな管理画面のリストテーブルに、カスタマイ一括操作を追加できるようになりました(#16031)。
投稿タイプテンプレート
カスタムページテンプレートと同様に、投稿タイプテンプレートもテーマ開発者が投稿タイプごとにテンプレートを選択できるようになります。(#18375)
Rest APIコンテンツエンドポイント
Rest API EndpointsがWordPress 4.7に追加されます。
ロケール切り替え
サイトのコンテンツが管理エリアで設定したロケールと異なるロケールで表示されている場合、WordPress はツールバーをコンテンツページの言語で表示します。(#26511)

I still do not get why, as intensive imagery is nowadays, there is no way to organize photos in the media section (I know there are plugins, but it should be built-in). How hard could it be to allow the photos to be organized in subfolders and/or categories?
Don’t they really find useful to have an easier way to find photos? Imagine a website with 1000 images, and you want to reuse one. It’s a apain in the neck

With good optimization of pictures you can find it easily, but it would be nice in some future update to deal with it.

I totally agree with your comment. We are in 2016 and not 1980’s.
Recently I decided to migrate my site from Joomla to WordPress. I have almost 2500 articles with 3 images approx. In every article. So I have to transfer almost 7500 images in one folder !!!

Finding images is really a pain for websites with many images (for example WooCommerce based website) without extra pluign, I hope they will improve in future versions.
Anyway I am really happy about Post Type Template and Custom Bulk Actions features.

Do you know if they added a meta summary field to the post editor? I don’t see a place to put meta summaries in the 2016 template, so it would be nice to have that field.
