WordPressコアチームの目標の一つは、速い開発サイクルで毎年複数のメジャー更新をリリースすることです。WordPress 3.2は7月4日にリリースされ、素晴らしい機能が搭載されました。WordPress 3.3に関する協議や作業はすでに始まっている。WordPress 3.3のリリースは今年末、2011年11月15日を予定しています。WordPress 3.3で何ができるのか見てみましょう。
メディアアップローダーの強化
メディアアップローダーの強化については、以前から検討されていましたが、いつも延期されていました。ついにバージョン3.3でアップローダーが改善されます。Pluploadをダッシュボードに統合する予定です。Pluploadは非常に使いやすいアップロードハンドラーで、HTML5、Gears、Flash、Silverlight、BrowserPlus、そして通常のアップロードを使ってファイルをアップロードできます。
このプロジェクトは、Google Summer of Code（GSoC）プロジェクトの一環として、Jacob Gillespieによって進められている。
追加される可能性のある新機能は以下の通り：
- 複数のファイル・トランスポート（HTML5から始まり、Flash、HTML4へのフォールバックあり
- ドラッグ＆ドロップによるアップロード
- オンザフライでの画像サイズ変更
- ブラウザー内画像処理用フック（プラグインでアップロード前のセピアトーンを追加できるようにするなど）
これにより、ファイルアップローダーの全体的なユーザー体験は間違いなく向上するはずです。また、ユーザーのブラウザーや環境に応じて徐々に改善されるため、将来のための良いベースとなるでしょう。
画像操作とギャラリー管理セクションにも改善が見られる可能性が高い。thickboxを廃止し、すべてをインライン化する案も出ているので、それが採用されるかどうか。
新規: ユーザー・エクスペリエンス
GmailやcPanelホスティングアカウントを初めてセットアップするとき、初めてのユーザーには役立つガイドを案内するウェルカム画面があります。WordPressにはこの必要な機能が欠けており、WordPress 3.3で追加される予定です。提案では、初回インストーラのウェルカム画面には、導入テキストとステップのチェックリストがあり、初回投稿更新のウェルカム画面、新機能の初回公開ポップアップがあります。

パフォーマンスの改善
非常に望ましいパーマリンク構造がスケーラブルでないことにまつわる大きな問題がある。Chris Coyierのサイトではパフォーマンスに大きな問題があり、Digging into WordPressブログでその経緯を説明している。WordPress 3.3のリリース後、パフォーマンスのペナルティなしにSEOフレンドリーなURL（パーマリンク構造）を持つことができることを願っています。
アップグレードルーチンを使用して、パーマリンクの特殊文字の問題に関連する修正が行われる予定です。WordPressメニューのパフォーマンスを改善するために、いくつかの修正が行われる予定です。
言語パック

I’d love that HTML5 upload support built into the uploader. I recently switched to a MacBook for University. I tried to follow the No Flash doctrine but crumbled under the weight of having to upload files individually without a progress bar in Safari and just installed Flash.
The responsive backend makes sense too since the default theme is now too.

I am most looking forward to the permalink performance so that /%postname%/ is not an issue with larger sites.
I would also like to see them change the default display name from your user name. it seems a security issue to automatically display your user name unless you go in an manually change it.
WordPress is great and getting better looking forward to 3.3

This one should be at the top of the list in my opinion…
“When you change a theme, your widgets disappear. Hopefully in WordPress 3.3, we can keep our widgets and make the theme change”.
It’s one of the first things I warn our blogging and WordPress students about.

I use NextGen, which is a fine plugin, but there is no reason why the built-in gallery should support the ability to organize your media. Having to click 20 times to get to an image is ridiculous. @EBarney

Yes, I’d love to be able to choose which images are associated with the gallery without having to upload them all at the same time. I think I found a plugin to help deal with this situation once, but I’ve been relying on outside slideshow tools b/c the galleries are so buggy. @dnavarrojr
