Cómo restringir las subidas solo a los tipos de archivo especificados en WordPress

Hace unos días, mientras trabajábamos en el sitio de un cliente, nos pidieron que programáramos una función que restringiera las subidas solo a los tipos de archivo especificados (jpg, gif, png). Después de buscar en el repositorio y no encontrar nada que pudiera hacer esto, decidimos crear un plugin propio. Ayer, fue aprobado en el repositorio de plugins de WordPress y se llama Restrict Uploads.

A diferencia de otros plugins, este plugin NO tiene un panel de ajustes super complejo. De hecho, no tiene ningún panel de ajustes. Está construido para hacer una cosa y solo una cosa. Es decir, evitar que sus editores suban cualquier otro tipo de archivo minientrada de imágenes (jpg, gif, png). Plugins como estos son el tipo ideal, ya que funciona silenciosamente en segundo plano sin tener ningún impacto en el tiempo de carga de su sitio, o su actividad diaria.

    @susan suarez Yes you are correct. This will prevent any malicious entry using the wp-admin to upload stuff using the media uploader…

    Very handy – thanks for adding this. Would this also help with the security of the plugin? So that if a hacker got in, they couldn’t upload any other type media file?

    @wpbeginner You’re right…. I wanted to focus on .JPG, .PNG and .GIF in capital… coz they can’t be uploaded. Some image editors save in capitals…

    @Debajyoti Then there would be no point of having this plugin. The whole idea is to keep the editors from uploading any other file type aside from images. We will work on an improvement for this plugin that will let you pick which users to limit the stuff for though :)

    You might also add .zip and .txt and .JPG, .PNG, .GIF to the filter.

    @JasonDittmer Yea I love plugin like these myself. Because they don’t require you to do anything. It is for one thing only.
