Es ist der neunte Vierte. Am 4. Juli vor neun Jahren habe ich WPBeginner gestartet. Unglaublich, dass wir so einen langen Weg zurückgelegt haben.
Wie jedes Jahr möchte ich mir ein paar Minuten Zeit nehmen und einen kurzen Rückblick auf all die wichtigen Dinge, die sowohl im Geschäft als auch in meinem Privatleben passiert sind, geben.
WPBeginner Geschichte
Ich habe mit 16 Jahren angefangen, WordPress zu benutzen und habe WPBeginner im Alter von 19 Jahren mit einer einzigen Mission gegründet: WordPress für Anfänger einfach zu machen.
Seitdem hat sich WPBeginner zur größten kostenlosen WordPress-Ressourcenseite für Anfänger entwickelt.

Persönliche Updates
Mein Sohn Solomon ist jetzt 20 Monate alt. Die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug, und er wird so schnell erwachsen. Amanda (meine Frau) und Solomon haben mich auf vielen meiner Geschäftsreisen begleitet, und wir haben auch einige lustige Reisen unternommen.
Seit dem letzten WPBeginner-Jubiläumspost waren wir in der Türkei, Dubai, Pakistan, Mexiko (Cabo, Punta Mita, Cancun) und auf den Bahamas (zweimal). Solomon hat auch am WordCamp US in Nashville teilgenommen, womit sich seine WordCamp-Teilnahme auf insgesamt 3 erhöht.
Anfang dieses Jahres wurde ich von der University of Florida (meiner Alma Mater) als herausragender junger Alumnus ausgezeichnet. Außerdem durfte ich dem College-Football-Spiel von der Präsidentensuite aus beiwohnen und habe viele tolle Leute kennengelernt.
Ich habe begonnen, an 3 Tagen in der Woche in einem Büro zu arbeiten. Das ist großartig, denn so kann ich mich konzentrieren und mehr erledigen. Und wenn ich zu Hause bin, kann ich mehr Zeit mit Solomon verbringen. Letztes Jahr habe ich mein Immobilienportfolio erweitert und ein Wells-Fargo-Gebäude hinzugenommen. In einem der Stockwerke habe ich mein Büro eingerichtet, und es ist schön, die Bank als Mieter zu haben.
WPBeginner Updates
Dank Ihnen allen ist WPBeginner weiterhin im zweistelligen Prozentbereich gewachsen (Jahr für Jahr). Es gab mehrere bemerkenswerte Updates aus dem letzten Jahr, die ich gerne hervorheben möchte.
1. Wir haben 100.000 YouTube-Abonnenten überschritten
Eines meiner Ziele im letzten Jahr war es, 100.000 Abonnenten auf YouTube zu erreichen, bevor ich diesen Beitrag zum Jahrestag schreibe. Wir haben es geschafft.
Wir haben jetzt über 102.000 Abonnenten und unsere Videos haben über 10 Millionen Aufrufe.

Ich habe einen Gold-Play-Button und einen Silber-Play-Button von meiner anderen Website, List25, die über 2,3 Millionen YouTube-Abonnenten hat.
2. SSL und Push-Benachrichtigungen
Sie haben vielleicht bemerkt, dass WPBeginner jetzt SSL verwendet. Ab Juli kennzeichnet Google Chrome alle Websites, die kein SSL verwenden, als unsicher. Obwohl wir keine Zahlungen auf WPBeginner sammeln, haben wir die Änderung vorgenommen, weil wir die Sicherheit unserer Leser schätzen.

Als Teil des Hinzufügens von SSL, haben wir auch Push-Benachrichtigungen zu WPBeginner hinzugefügt. Sie haben vielleicht schon die Benachrichtigung zum Abonnieren bemerkt. Es ist eine großartige Möglichkeit, um über neue Beiträge und Anleitungen von WPBeginner auf dem Laufenden zu bleiben.
3. Audit und Rewrites
Eines unserer Ziele in diesem Jahr ist es, unsere älteren Beiträge einer gründlichen Prüfung zu unterziehen. WPBeginner verfügt über mehr als 2000 kostenlose WordPress-Tutorials. Wir haben unser Team erweitert, so dass wir unsere älteren Beiträge zeitnah auf den neuesten Stand bringen können.
Außerdem bereiten wir uns auf eine umfassende Überarbeitung der Inhalte vor, sobald Gutenberg auf den Markt kommt. Dies wird eine große Herausforderung für uns im Laufe des Jahres sein.
4. Verbesserte WPBeginner Server Infrastruktur
Ungefähr jede zweite Woche erhalte ich eine E-Mail von einem Nutzer, der nach den Geheimnissen hinter WPBeginners rasanter Geschwindigkeit fragt. Die Antwort lautet: Infrastruktur und Caching.
Da WPBeginner wächst, müssen wir kontinuierlich in unsere Server-Infrastruktur investieren. Unser WordPress-Hosting-Partner HostGator hat daran gearbeitet, eine komplett maßgeschneiderte Infrastruktur aufzubauen, die auf mehrere Rechenzentren verteilt ist, um eine hohe Verfügbarkeit zu gewährleisten. Im vergangenen Jahr haben sie unsere Hardware und die Caching-Schicht, die wir auf der Website verwenden, verbessert.
Ich bin seit 2007 Kunde von HostGator, und WPBeginner wird seit dem ersten Tag bei ihnen gehostet (siehe meine vollständige HostGator-Bewertung). Ich möchte dem gesamten Team danken, das uns bei dem Upgrade geholfen hat.
Hinweis: WPBeginner nutzt mehrere dedizierte Server von HostGator (kein Shared Hosting).

Do you recall that a couple of plugins that were in the WP repository were bought and sold and that the buyer inserted malicious code into the plugins? Now whenever I think about using a plugin, I look to see its history, who makes it, any warning bells, etc.
